Immigration Journey "The Drive to Galicia" Part 5

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

Ok, so if you have been following the journey that my wife and I have been on trying to travel from Northern California to SFO to LAX to Heathrow then to Madrid then a 5 hour drive from Madrid to Galicia in the middle of all this craziness!! All of this effort remember is for our final appointment to receive our TIE residency card. It has been a year long process!!!

So the final leg happened today. We got up early at 5 am from the Hilton at the Madrid airport and started our long drive to our Albergue in Galicia. We did not know what to expect because we’ve heard about roadblocks and check points. We were prepared with our appointment confirmations, our property deed, and even our negative PCR results. The traffic in and of Madrid was almost non existent. Very very quite!! All the way from Madrid to our place was smooth sailing. Never saw any kind of law enforcement or road blocks. Just lighted signs along the way stating the state of emergency. So we have made it!! Our appointment with the authorities is on this coming Monday in Lugo, which supposedly is still in some type of lockdown but we can show proof that we have a reason to be there.

I will let you know how that goes.

Buen Camino
